Southern Cross Care Awards 2007
The National Final of the Southern Cross Care Awards 2007 took place on the 20th March 2008 at a Gala Dinner in Blackpool.
The awards were open to all employees of Southern Cross Healthcare, Ashbourne Senior Living and Active Care Partnerships. The aim of these awards is to recognise excellence in our teams across the UK and to celebrate the outstanding contribution made by individuals working in our care centres.
Nominations were received from a variety of sources for Regional Finalists, from which the Regional Winners were chosen in a variety of categories. A Divisional Champion was selected from each group of Regional Winners and presented for the Southern Cross Healthcare Group Grand Prix Award at the Gala Dinner, with the winner being awarded a prize worth £1500 and a further £600 for their care centre.
The selection process at each stage was a difficult and challenging one due to the extremely high standard of all the nominees. We would like to congratulate everyone for taking part, it is a great achievement to be part of these awards and to receive recognition for your continued commitment. Well done!![]()

WINNER OF THE GRAND PRIX AWARD 2007 - Terry Lilico
Terry isn’t one for blowing his own trumpet but he is clearly delighted with the award. And his friends, family and colleagues are not going to let this win go unnoticed.
It has been one long party since Blackpool with not one but two parties organised to celebrate his success. Terry has been amazed at the number of cards and congratulations that have been pouring in.
We caught up with him at work. Doing exactly what got him the award in the first place - helping out at another care centre. This is what he told us about the Care Awards,
"My wife couldn’t believe how professional the event was – I kept telling her that’s always the way with Southern Cross. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We couldn’t have had a better night and it was fantastic to celebrate with all of my colleagues."
We’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Terry on behalf of everyone at Southern Cross. He really is an example to us all.
RUNNER-UP

RUNNER-UP - Mimie Carey
Mimie was equally delighted with her award. She spent most of the evening with a big smile on her face.
"I had a lovely, lovely time. I will remember each and every second of it for ever. It is the best time I have had since coming to England from France. It is really nice to be recognised for what you do."
Mimie also congratulated Terry on his success "he really did deserve the award."
Mimie’s family are also proud of her. Her dad back in France is telling everyone about his daughter’s success. And a little bird tells me that Laurel Court is planning on having a big party to celebrate as well.
The award was definitely the highlight of the evening, but Mimie was also quick to point out another of her cherished memories.
Was it the recognition? The applause? The certificate? No.
It was a kiss from Bill Colvin. I’d watch out Mrs C you may have competition!
